The Founding Story

Founded in 2005 by
Annette Ciketic

flNdings Art Center is a 501 c3 non-profit organization created by Annette Ciketic in 2005. The name "flNdings" was inspired by the artist Corita Kent's practice of using viewfinders as a tool in arts education, and the "IN" of the art center's name and logo is from one of Kent's serigraphs from 1964.

flNdings began as a conversation between four former students of Corita Kent, and grew to become a small storefront and art gallery located adjacent to the historic Warner Grand Theater in downtown San Pedro. At this location, guided by the leadership of its founder, Annette Ciketic, until her passing in March, 2024, flNdings hosted numerous art exhibitions, educational workshops, and fund-raisers for altruistic causes.

As of 2025 flNdings is no longer attached to one physical location, instead becoming a nomadic art center that partners with local businesses and arts organizations to host mobile "pop-up" exhibitions and educational events.

Our Connection to Corita

fINdings Art Center draws inspiration from the teaching philosophy of artist and educator Corita Kent, whose approach to art emphasized curiosity, experimentation, and the creative spirit within everyone.

Founded by Immaculate Heart alumni, fINdings continues this legacy by supporting artists, learners, and communities through creative exploration and education.
